Cherries III

Yesterday I discoverd cherries in the supermarket. This is not the season for cherries here. But they looked so tasty, that I bought a hand full (at the price of 7€/kg) in order to paint them.

Today I also made a "sketch" for the portrait I'm planning to paint of my grandfather, who died last year at the age of 90. I did this from a photo we took of him during the last year of his life.

This is the final portrait of my grandfather. It's much better than the sketch, though I really love the sketch too(that is why I also have let it framed).
The latest one will be the birthday present for my mother.

"Gatower Kugeln"

Since I left my most favorite subject during the last time – oranges and tangerines – I wanted to paint some vegetables. Yesterday I bought kind of a
radish on the market which I've never seen before. A friend told me today that it's called "Gatower Kugel" (Kugel means ball/sphere) and derives from Gatow, a village near Berlin and that's a crossing of two types of radish. Now I've got two recipes to prepare as a meal, a salat or a risotto, but cannot decide which i'd rather cook...

My Easel

I was in a very good mood this weekend and painted four paintings at once, that I’m totaly proud of. I heard good music like
Arcade Fire, Johanna Zeul (a very good german musician), Element of Crime (also very good german musicians) and I felt happy and free to do and paint whatever I want. I tried out some more colour in comparison to my last series.
