Three Tangerines II

I was trying to bring a new touch in my painting subject and I tried to paint the fruits I already had, on this fabric. I actually used this fabric for a new pillowcase for our dogs bed.
What I like about this painting is the reflection of the stripes on the surface of the tangerine. It is almost like in a mirror!

Wild Peaches

The last weeks have been very hot here in Germany. That was on one hand very nice because we've waited so long for the summer.
On the other hand it's a little bit hard for me, because the oil colors become kind of liquid in this heat and it's very hard to do deft brushstrokes and to get a fair relief on the panel.
This one i think i did it quite well.

Cherries I

Cherries are my new favorite Subject. My boyfriend bought some turkish cherries from the supermarket.
I rescued them from being eaten, by hiding them on my studio desk in order to paint them.

I tried different arrangements, wich you can see above.
After that they became victims of my boyfriend's appetite, and they didn't survive much longer than 1 minute, because they were so tasty...

Sweet bell pepper

sold

I really enjoy those sweet bell peppers, when they are roasted at the flame and afterwards drizzled with olive oil and flavoured with onion, pepper and salt. This is a romanian recipe.
The more sweet and mellow, the more tasty they are.
Mhhhh... it makes my mouth water

Cherry blossom in new vase

sold

This is one is the first branch of the cherry trees, that blossom currently in Berlin. My boy-friend brought it from his taking the dog for a walk one evening (psssst-because you are not allowed to scrump branches from public trees).
Besides that i am really in love with my new green flower vase that i purchased at the flea market this weekend. It was a bargain, just costed 12 Euro although it is entirely crafted by hand.

Like you can see, I was really in love with this flower for this weekend. I painted it four times in different set ups, and I improved very much the more I painted it. Maybe you will see some of those other paintings later in this blog.

Der Zwiebelzopf “The humble onion”

I’ve got to explain shortly, the choice of this unusual subject. The “humble onion” is the star of the Onion market, held every year in the historical center of Weimar. Usually it consists of four rows of colored Onion that are bound and plaited together in the traditional way and decorated with dried flowers of yellow, white or lilac. It is a tradition that is rooted in the Weimarian History. Goethe praised the effect on wellness and decorate every year in autumn his desk and house with the recently purchased “humble onion”.

Since I was a Student in Weimar I can not, without hanging a fresh “humble onion” in our kitchen every octobre.
